Biography
Mike Smith is a longtime labor leader and advocate for working men and women throughout Illinois. Beginning his career with Laborers’ Local 751 in Kankakee in 1990, he later served as Business Manager, representing union members and promoting workplace safety, fair wages, and strong labor-management relationships.
In addition to his leadership with Local 751, Mike has served as President of the Kankakee Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, where he has worked to advance the interests of working families and support the labor movement throughout the region. With more than three decades of experience in organized labor, Mike is widely respected for his commitment to workers, community involvement, and dedication to strengthening the workforce.
