Partner

Mr. Cheris is an experienced trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice lawsuits. He has litigated cases worth millions of dollars throughout the State of Illinois and has successfully prepared and tried numerous cases to verdict.  In addition, Robert has enjoyed significant success litigating and winning dispositive motions despite the odds often being heavily stacked against his clients.  Prior to joining Anesi Ozmon, Ltd., Robert spent over a decade defending medical malpractice cases for physicians, nurses, and hospitals. This prior specialized experience provides Robert with invaluable and unique knowledge to the area of medical malpractice, as well as the inner workings of health care systems and the applicable standard of care.  Simply put, Robert will often know what the defense team is thinking and how opposing counsel, as well as the insurance company, will go about defending the lawsuit.

In his career, Robert has litigated cases involving almost every type of healthcare provider, including orthopedic surgeons, internal medicine physicians, neurologists, emergency medicine physicians, obstetrics and gynecologists, radiologists, critical care physicians, neurosurgeons, gastroenterologists, vascular surgeons, urologists, pathologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, nephrologists, infectious disease specialists, hospitalists, pain medicine physicians, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeons, psychiatrists, family medicine physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and various other providers and specialists.  Examples of specific medical malpractice lawsuits Robert has litigated include, but are not limited to, cases involving fetal demise, uterine rupture, preeclampsia, breast cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, bladder cancer, stroke medicine, amputation cases, female pelvic surgeries with gynecological mesh, infections, medication mismanagement, failure to intubate, failure to appropriately monitor, orthopedic surgeries, medical device cases, various laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries, failure to diagnose cases, and countless others.

Although Robert primarily practices in the area of medical malpractice, he also regularly handles cases involving construction negligence, nursing home negligence, premises liability cases, and other personal injury matters.  In fact, it is his background and experience in medical malpractice cases which provides Robert with valuable knowledge regarding the damages suffered by his clients.

Robert graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While in law school, he earned a Certificate in Trial Advocacy from Loyola’s highly regarded trial advocacy program.  He also received the CALI Award for earning the highest grade in Contracts, appeared on the Dean’s List, and served as a legal advisor counseling non-profit corporations at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law Business Law Clinic. Robert previously guest lectured on patient care liability at the University of Illinois-Chicago, in its Master of Healthcare Administration program.

Robert is a Chicago-area native and is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and lives in the northern suburbs with his wife and two sons.  He loves the Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox, and especially the Bears.
