Anesi Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd. has been retained by a Kankakee, Ill. family of four who sustained severe injuries from an automobile collision caused by a drunk driver. The incident occurred in Bourbonnais, Ill. on Jan. 14, 2014, at 8:20 p.m. when the mother stopped her car at a red light with her 6-month-old daughter and 6-year-old son in the backseat. The father was in another vehicle stationed directly behind the mother’s car. The police record indicated that the man was driving with a blood-alcohol level above Illinois’ 0.08 limit when he struck the father’s vehicle, which pushed it forward into the mother’s car.
The father sustained serious injuries including facial and nasal fractures as well as a traumatic brain injury, which resulted in him losing consciousness. The incident caused the mother and two children to receive serious neck injuries and extensive bruising. The family will now require ongoing medical attention to recover from the physical and emotional injuries resulting from the collision.
