On September 23, 2011, the Women's Bar Association of Illinois hosted a luncheon with Illinois Supreme Court Justice Rita Garman at Petterinos in downtown Chicago. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke and Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis along with almost 100 female attorneys were also in attendance. At the luncheon, Justice Garman shared stories about breaking through barriers she encountered throughout her legal career. She encouraged those in attendance to become active within the legal community by accepting leadership positions within any one of the several bar associations in Illinois and reminded everyone that a truly successful attorney is not just one that sits at her desk practicing law but is out in the legal community.

The Women's Bar Association of Illinois hosted its annual Joint Professional Dinner, an event that honors and recognizes women who have demonstrated visionary approaches in their professional endeavors and who have made a contribution to the well being and empowerment of women, on November 4, 2011.
