Senior Partner, Bruce Kohen, was installed as the 54th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers' Association on June 8, 2007. Following his partners Nat P. Ozmon and Curt N. Rodin, Kohen is the third attorney from Anesi Ozmon to become ITLA’s presiding officer since it was founded in 1952.
ITLA is the state’s leading organization of attorneys who specialize in representing injured consumers and workers. The 2,000-member Association promotes the highest standards of professional ethics and competency, educates and trains attorneys in the arts of advocacy, and is the state’s defender of trial by jury and the adversarial system of justice.
Long active in the Association, Mr. Kohen has been a leader in the fight to preserve laws that protect consumers and victims, often under the cloak of so-called “tort reform.” As long-time chair of the Legislative Committee of ITLA, he was a frequent spokesperson and advocate in the litigation that successfully challenged the constitutionality of the Illinois’ Tort Reform Act.
