For more than 30 years, Curt N. Rodin's casework on behalf of victims of construction injury, product defects and medical malpractice have set legal precedents and won record-setting verdicts for his clients. His settlement, in excess of $24 million for an injured ironworker, is the highest catastrophic injury settlement for a construction worker in Illinois history. Starting as a law student clerking at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd. in 1975, Curt served as managing partner and president from 1996-2006. As Curt continues to build the firm's reputation as leading trial lawyers and aggressive negotiators in personal injury law cases, he travels frequently to Springfield to work with lawmakers to shape important consumer rights legislation.

Curt acknowledges that families look to this firm at the absolute worst time of their lives. He shoulders that responsibility with the appropriate gravity and, knowing that losses suffered may never be replaced, focuses on wanting to help the injured and their families.

Curt's recent verdict and settlement highlights include:
  • $24,250,000 settlement for an ironworker rendered a quadriplegic as a result of a 50 foot fall.
  • $20,000,000 settlement for a laborer who was paralyzed when a wall collapsed.
  • $13,000,000 jury verdict for a millwright injured when he fell from an oven under construction.
  • $5,000,000 jury verdict in a medical malpractice case involving a patient's suicide at a hospital.
  • $2,114,000 jury verdict for a woman whose automobile was rear-ended by a Commonwealth Edison truck.

Curt is one of only a handful of personal injury attorneys to be listed in The Best Lawyers in America for 10 consecutive years. He was president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Society of Trial Lawyers---the only Illinois lawyer ever honored to have served as president of both prestigious organizations. He served on the Committee on Civil Jury Instructions of the Illinois Supreme Court, and was the Committee's chairman for three years. He has served on many committees of the Illinois State Bar Association and The American Association for Justice and published numerous articles and text chapters in legal periodicals.

Nationally known for his teaching skills, Curt is an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law, a noted teacher of trial techniques and a sought-after lecturer before many bar association groups. He devotes much of his time to mentoring younger associates at the firm and takes special pride that his son, an assistant Illinois Attorney General, followed him into the legal profession.

"To many people, a serious injury disrupts their entire life. Too often family relationships are strained and friends are few and far between. It is our job as lawyers to put the pieces back into place."
